Tango 600: Technique Deep Dive

A followup to TANGO 102: TURNING FIGURES, this 8-week class aims to improve movement quality through body awareness, repeated exercise, and an in-depth examination of different techniques for different situations or styles of dance. We’ll work to improve our skills with common figures such as walks, ochos, enrosques, boleos, ganchos/leg wraps, and sacadas. We’ll also see how they apply to off-axis figures such as volcadas, single axis turns, and colgadas. We’ll pay particular attention to molinetes, which differ in style dance and technique. New skills will be introduced every week after repeating exercises from previous weeks. Skills covered will apply to both roles of the dance and will prepare students for the winter class session in early 2025.

*Note: Students should wear thick socks (or yoga socks) for the first 3 weeks of class for widest range of motion.
